Perspective continues to be a cruel mistress, but if it ain't difficult then I ain't learning. The way how gyms are furnished with various machinery and unorthodox death traps have caused people to occasionally tell me to make a strip about it, so here it is. This was originally planned to be way less time consuming, but I started to feel reluctant about its execution halfway through the process. But I'm posting it nonetheless, I want to move on to other ideas.

Some recent comments brought up if my updates are still sporadic, and that is indeed still the case. While I'm flattered that people wait eagerly for the next strips, impatience does sadly nothing to speed up the schedule. On the top of the page, there's a whole shelf of options to keep track of the comic updates, so make the best use of them instead of reloading the page hoping to see any changes. If there are other features or sites I'm not making use of, suggest it! I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Let my comic check up on you, and not the other way around.

Probably better than being shot out of a cannon and smacking your face into a wall

July 11th, 2012, 12:17 pm

@pat15: Nah, that happened to him too. :3

July 11th, 2012, 12:42 pm

Which is better than jumping off an unstable Ice Slide suspended over a bottomless pit.

July 11th, 2012, 12:56 pm

hehe, or how about doing a loud noisy battle in the bottom of a deep cave where eveything could just collapse? lol amusing stuff

July 11th, 2012, 1:43 pm

What, no spike put of doom? LAMEST. GYM. EVER.

July 11th, 2012, 1:44 pm

@pat15: Or having to do battle on the extremely narrow tail of a dragon sculpture.

July 11th, 2012, 1:52 pm

Seriously, as of Black&White, there are some pretty crazy gyms, but the craziest would have to be the library, now that´s just insane!

July 11th, 2012, 1:54 pm

@Deskman: I say the cannons :D

July 11th, 2012, 2:03 pm

and now... Elesa's gym in B2W2 lol
from crazy lollercoaster to a catwalk!?

Gen5 takes the craziness up to eleven.

Both times Skyla's gym is dangerous. First with those cannons (and slamming face first on a wall, hilarious I must say) and now with super strong fans capable of blowing you off the gym.

July 11th, 2012, 4:18 pm

Gen V

Straiton Gym: Restauraunt
Nacrene Gym: Library
Castelia Gym: Beehive
Nimbasa Gym: Roller coaster
Driftveil Gym: Mine shaft
Mistralton Gym: Military hanger with cannons
Icirrus Gym: Ice skating
Opelucid Gym: Dragon statue maze
Who knows what B2W2 will bring?

July 11th, 2012, 5:47 pm

@pat15: I recall that.

July 11th, 2012, 5:48 pm

@Gamining King: Well, we know it won't have the restauraunt, since Kyurem froze it.

July 11th, 2012, 7:34 pm

If only some of the battles in the games were as epic as the places they sometimes take place in. Battlefields rarely ever play any sort of role in the Pokemon games, other than "OMG IT'S RAINING!" etc.

July 11th, 2012, 9:05 pm

@Gamining King: Mission Impossible, maybe?

July 12th, 2012, 10:36 am

Nice comic :)

Howdy, looking over the comic here, real nice, swaps between some various unique colors, and art direction. Some jokes I don't get, but the ones I do are very funny, and actually are similar to the main humor behind my series. I just started myself, up to almost 30 on mine :).

I notice you have a wide variety of art back and forth, through out the post, do you have many guest comics? If so I might be interested in submitting one :)

July 12th, 2012, 3:06 pm

@Novanto: What? Where did that come from? Kyruem had nothing to do with the Striaton Gym being murdered (not actually, just a phrase). They were bumped off to make room for Roxie and Marlon. Just like Lenora was fired to make room for Cheren (who went from being a rival to the first gym leader. What a downgrade.) But at least Chili, Cilan, and Cress show up as way stronger Pokemon trainers (that being their class instead of gym leader (good Gandhi I sound like a bigger geek then I actually am)).

July 12th, 2012, 3:09 pm

@Gamining King: I meant physically. It's frozen solid! You can see it on the map!

July 12th, 2012, 6:12 pm

See that Striaton Gym?

Kyurem don't care.

Kyurem doesn't give a sh*t.

It just freezes, what it wants.

July 12th, 2012, 6:25 pm

@AuraX: Nooo... really? </sarcasm>

July 13th, 2012, 9:13 am

@Gamining King: "BTW, WHAT IS THE THEME OF THIS GYM!?!?!?!?!?!?"

July 13th, 2012, 10:08 am

I think the biggest question is who is out there designing all of these gym puzzels? I mean there must be alot of money to be made from such a job but I guess only gym leaders are allowed to know of this person. The contact details would be passed from leader to leader through word of mouth so nobody shall ever know of the mystery person.

July 13th, 2012, 10:47 am

No riddles? No precarious bridges suspended over lakes of Basculin? No dead man's switches? No killer Golurks? No car chases? No swinging spikes, no pitfall traps, no land mines, no ropes hanging from the ceiling over a bottomless pit?

It's an okay Gym, I guess. Could be good for early-mid game.

July 13th, 2012, 11:23 am

Volkner from the 4th gen had a really bad one, it took up so much power that it caused blackouts, the challenge actually easy though

July 13th, 2012, 2:40 pm

@Deskman: So going from shelf to shelf to solve various clues is much crazier than firing yourself out of a cannon and slamming right into a wall. Good to know.

July 13th, 2012, 7:55 pm

Wattson's and Surge's gyms had live electricity. Claire's had lava. Falkner's is over a long drop, you could fall into machinery and get crushed in Volkner's gym, Flannery's gym involves explosive bursts of hot water and/or gas...

I swear they want to kill trainers in the Pokemon world!

July 15th, 2012, 4:39 pm

This Gym is based on an Indiana Jones movie. Come on, all of those traps have appeared at least once in one of them :P

July 16th, 2012, 2:59 am

its population control at its best

July 16th, 2012, 11:03 am

The Hardest Challenge of All...

is surviving the Gym Leader's speech.

July 16th, 2012, 8:20 pm

@Novanto: WHAT? ARE YOU SERIOUS! Man, I wish my parents would let me get some more video games!

July 16th, 2012, 8:22 pm

@Gamining King: Serious about what? Striaton being turned into a glacier?

July 16th, 2012, 8:36 pm

@Shadow Master: I know the Mauville guy mentioned that he designed his own, back in Ruby/Sapphire.

July 16th, 2012, 9:54 pm

I probably would've killed him on the spot

July 17th, 2012, 12:20 am

This strip made me laugh. :3 I haven't been reading webcomics in a a while, but this was a good one.

July 19th, 2012, 6:10 pm

You guys know nothing, Dad's Gym from R/S/E was obviously the most menacing of all! I mean, just look at those doors! They slide open so fast!

July 20th, 2012, 2:25 pm

Too many trainers...

Well I've noticed as the generations go, all the gyms keep getting more and more deadly to anyone brave/stupid/desperate enough to challenge them. My reason why? To cut down on the population of trainers. There's only eight gyms per continent and if the Poké world is anything like ours there's literally thousands and thousands of people that are just pokémon trainers. That's not counting all the people that battle as a hobby.

So the Gym Leaders gotta do SOMETHING to cut down on the challenger intake right? That's why each generation's Gyms are deadlier than all the ones before!

July 21st, 2012, 7:21 am

@Shadow Master: The Trick Master from Hoenn, clearly.

July 30th, 2012, 12:47 pm

Why is anybody here is talking about gen V???? Well It's my turn it's about the names of pokemon.
Some Pokemon names are related to spanish names of animals, like zorua, Is a fox,and Fox in spanish is zorro. do you how similar those words are????? And I think Zorua would be called Illufox instead

August 2nd, 2012, 9:04 pm

I've always wondered about that too. Makes me think of Morty's gym...

August 5th, 2012, 10:50 am

@Novanto: plus the 1st gym leader is Cheren

August 5th, 2012, 10:55 am

@MWK: In diamond, I was stuck on the last puzzle trying to figuire it out at 1:00 IN THE MORNING,and I had been trying for hours and I asked for help from people who knew NOTHING about pokemon because it was so hard.

August 5th, 2012, 10:56 am

@Guest: Yep.

August 5th, 2012, 7:20 pm

it could be worse

@pat15: well it can be better than walking over a small beam over 100 feet off the ground with snmall elevators with no safety bars at all

August 8th, 2012, 5:51 pm

for teh luvva...

@DarkMario: Yet again we see MORE gen wunner bullshit.

August 9th, 2012, 3:15 pm

@DarkMario i would consider your opinions if you could spell AT ALL

August 10th, 2012, 10:50 am

@DarkMario: Do you really think we'll be spelling "worse" like "wroser" by the time Gen 11 happens?

August 10th, 2012, 4:50 pm

2 Years

exact 2 years since the start of this site... Well since the first comic :)

August 11th, 2012, 9:54 am

not in pokemon too?

i can't believe theres a GEEWUNER in the pokemon fandom too

August 11th, 2012, 9:11 pm

This was posted on my birthday

August 12th, 2012, 2:08 am

Gen 11?

Where the heck are you getting Eleven Generations from, there are only five. Unless you're attempting to predict future pokemon.
Also, Gen 2 and 3 had awesome looking pokemon in my opinion. owo

August 12th, 2012, 11:45 am

Gen 5 > Gen 4 > Gen 3 > Gen 2 > Gen 1

Come at me fanboys.

August 14th, 2012, 5:08 pm

@AuraX: You dumb troll
@DarkMario: What do you MEAN by worse then Magikarp ? Magikarp is the BEST pokemon ever ! Its so powerful even arceus can't take him. Its stats are DEVASTATING and his ability doubles his speed! How dare you defy him, his splash will destroy you.

August 16th, 2012, 7:51 am

This next comic better be a real good one!

It's been over a month! I'm not trying to rush, Im just wondering whats going on.

August 16th, 2012, 5:30 pm

Crazy Gyms of Death

@Gamining King: The theme of this gym is DEATH.

August 17th, 2012, 1:59 pm

@GoldenWolfAmaterasu: That or Hollywood movies.

August 24th, 2012, 10:14 pm

@godmoderncommander: It was probably the real trap to the original trap of the ball-rolling trap. Once the floor was put on enough weight then the floor would collapse and spikes of doom where underneath WITH the ball still coming so you have no time to climb out :D

December 17th, 2012, 7:07 pm

If you think that gym is bad, wait til you see lt. Surge's gym in firered and leafgreen. It's ANNOYING!!!
